113-1 NCNU English Singing Competition

I. Event Name: 113-1 National Chi Nan University English Singing Competition

IV. Event Date and Time:
Online Preliminary Round:

Submission starts: Monday, October 21, 113, 9:00 AM

  • Submission deadline: Wednesday, November 6, 113, 12:00 PM

Final Round:

  • Wednesday, November 13, 113, 1:10 PM – 3:00 PM

Final Round:

  • Borderless Classroom, 2nd Floor, Library (Room 213)

VI. Competition Rules:

  1. Participants who have lived in an English-speaking country for over three years are not eligible.
  2. Preliminary Round:
    1. Individual or group entries (no limit on group size).
    2. Repeated or non-English lyrics must not exceed 1/3 of the song.
    3. Participants must select one English song and record a 40-60 second a cappella video.
    4. The participant must be clearly visible in the video, which must not exceed 1 minute in length. The video file should be in .mp4 format. The video link should be sent to the center's email before the submission deadline.
    5. The top 12 participants, as selected by the judges, will advance to the final round. The list will be announced on the center’s website by Friday, November 8, 5:00 PM.
  3. Final Round:
    1. Participants must perform a complete English song of their choice, with a time limit of 5 minutes.
    2. Accompaniment files must be emailed to the center by 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12. For live accompaniment, participants must submit their song choice by the same deadline.
    3. The final round order will be announced on the day of the competition. If a contestant does not respond after being called three times, they will be considered to have forfeited.
    4. Judges will select the top three participants, and the audience will vote for their favorite performance. The contestant with the most votes will receive the "Most Popular Award" (in case of a tie, the award will be shared, and the prize money divided equally).

VII. Prizes:

  • First Place: NT$2500 gift certificate and a certificate
  • Second Place: NT$2000 gift certificate and a certificate
  • Third Place: NT$1500 gift certificate and a certificate
  • Most Popular Award: NT$1000 gift certificate and a certificate

VIII. Scoring Criteria:

  • 70% Singing and Pronunciation Technique
  • 10% Stage Presence
  • 20% Costume and Styling

IX. Registration Procedure:

  • Registration is online. (Link available on the Language Teaching Center website)
  • Registration Period:
    • Starts: Monday, October 21, 9:00 AM
    • Ends: Wednesday, November 6, 12:00 PM

Note: Group members must also register individually and list their team members in the remarks section. If the group is large, one representative can be chosen to provide this information, e.g., "In a group with xxx, total __ members."
